Fashion & Textiles
The innovation, energy and glamour of fashion, textiles and jewellery at Central Saint Martins is famous worldwide. It is based on a broad and deep understanding and knowledge of these fast-moving and highly diverse industries.
Film, Video, Animation & Photography
Film, video and photography have become core media for artists and designers and are integrated into our fine art and graphic design courses and research. Postgraduate certificates in animation and photography allow graduates to train for professional careers in these two expanding industries.
Fine Art
Contemporary fine art is a diverse field where traditional and new media are constantly pushing, critiquing and challenging boundaries. The courses and research activity at Central Saint Martins are a key part of the international contemporary art world.
Graphic & Communication Design
Exploiting the new and the old successfully, from multimedia to typography, printmaking to the internet, is at the core of communication today. Graphic and communication design at Central Saint Martins concentrates on all of these areas to produce designers of agility and intelligence.
Theatre & Performance
Acting and designing for the theatre is at the root of our courses and research in the performing arts, but the results can be seen in many media including film, television and exhibitions. Our courses in acting, theatre design and scenography will be joined by a new BA in Directing from Autumn 2002.
Ceramic, Spatial, Product & Jewellery Design
Three dimensional objects are part of our everyday lives. Our courses and research in ceramics, product and jewellery design explore new materials, products and objects for a wide range of commercial, industrial and one-off uses. The interdisciplinary BA Arts & Design looks at how artefact, spatial and media design redefine the way we live and work.
Interdisciplinary
By integrating and exploring the ways that different art and design disciplines interact, overlap and conflict, artists, designers and managers can change the way we view the world. Spatial, media and artefact designers on our interdisciplinary courses all question convention, anticipate change and experiment with new forms.
